2023-24 City Edition

(From Official Clippers Press Release) The 2023-24 Nike NBA City Edition uniform, features a custom-drawn “Clips” wordmark across the chest. The uniform was designed by L.A.-based contemporary artist and Clippers season ticket member Jonas Wood, who was inspired by the San Diego Clippers uniforms of the 1970s and ‘80s, and the team’s jerseys shortly after moving to L.A.

I was responsible for collaborating with Jonas Wood on the uniform design, and working closely with the NBA and Nike. I also directed the photoshoot with our players to promote the release of the uniform. Staying with same narrative as the uniform and taking inspiration from throwback NBA, the photoshoot was inspired by iconic athlete portraits from Slam magazine and Sports Illustrated. Particularly from the legendary SI photographer, Walter Iooss. Similar to him, I used a hand painted fabric texture backdrop and a natural lighting style for a complete homage to the 80's and 90's NBA.
